About the Bourne-Wareham Art Association (BWAA)
The BWAA is a group of local artists promoting the visual arts in the Buzzards Bay region. It holds monthly group meetings March – December, artist demonstrations, local art shows, and annual art awards for high school seniors. Founded in 1964, the association has a proud history of community involvement in Wareham and Bourne as well as other surrounding communities. Eligibility for Art Achievement Awards
Regional graduating high school seniors that plan to enroll in an accredited visual art higher education program are eligible and encouraged to apply for the BWAA Art Achievement Awards.
Process
- Complete the attached registration form and return it to LindaHannonArt@gmail.com by April 10, 2026.
- Attend the BWAA meeting on April 18, 2026 at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road, Wareham and provide a brief presentation of your portfolio of eight to twelve pieces of our work to the members. Plan to arrive at 11:30. We want you to share your artistic goals in the visual arts vocation and your art (including things such as what inspired you, assignment parameters, medium selections etc)
- Portfolios will be judged by the members of the BWAA in attendance.
- Participants will be notified within 30 days of presentation if they received an award. Awards are typically $500 (sometimes more – dependent on funds available and number of winners) and are provided to the recipient(s) upon proof of first semester passing grades.
- Proof of grades must be forwarded to the BWAA President and a check will be sent to the student.
Who Can Attend Presentations
Parents, art teachers, and guidance counselors are welcome and encouraged to attend the presentations. Guests are not permitted to comment during presentations or review.
