Artist Statement

Welcome to my online studio!

I’m a self-taught, mixed media artist that loves getting messy across a whole lot of mediums.  I adore textures and color and I never seem to be satisfied with one or the other, so in my art you might find anything from encaustic wax to watercolor, acrylics, inks, paper collage and oil paints.

Why do I paint? Because it turns out not only can I, but it brings me huge personal satisfaction.  I didn’t grow up in an artsy home, quite the opposite.  My path took me through thirty-five years in the corporate world and it never occurred to me that maybe there was another road.  Then my new, fantabulous husband, who saw a creative streak I didn’t know I had, signed me up for my first photography class.  (As you can imagine he held his breath when he presented me with that gift…talk about taking a risk!)

My journey started there and I found a whole new world I never imagined. After a couple of years, I found I wanted something more tangible than a two-dimensional photo.  I wanted something that I could touch, which led me to encaustic, paints, inks, collage and color. There were oh so many gorgeous colors!

Today I find myself drawn to paintings of women. We are such beautiful, complex creatures and I try and capture the emotions I see in the amazing ladies in my life. It can be playfulness, joy, or gratitude, and I try to infuse them with inspiration through the use of color.

Most days you will find me in my studio.  I’m incredibly fortunate to live on the beach in Cape Cod Massachusetts.  When I’m not painting or on the water, you can find me with my grandkids, who inspire me to play and listen to my inner child (who’s always up for a new adventure).

My hope is that as you browse my work, you will find pieces that spark inspiring thoughts and emotions.  May the joy of my little inner artist make your day a little brighter!
